Scott Arendse is at it again! This time he is putting himself to the test to raise funds for a Capetonian legend, Boeta Cassiem

Cape Town, South Africa (12 June 2020) – Every year, from 2016 to 2018, Scott Arendse played tennis for 24-hours to raise funds for his friend Obey. Obey was on dialysis, waiting for a kidney transplant. He received his donor kidney in 2018. Since then, Obey and his wife have welcomed a beautiful daughter to the world.

Scott is now using his love of sport to support a Capetonion legend. If you have ever been to a live cricket game in Cape Town, you will know Mogamat Cassiem. He is a Newlands veteran, famous for selling “Lolly to make you jolly!”.

Boeta Cassiem as he is fondly called has worked selling ice-creams and lollies for decades. He has dedicated his life to bringing joy and refreshment to sporting fans. He now needs a helping hand. Boeta Cassiem has cataracts on his eyes that are adversely affecting his quality of life. Scott hopes to raise money to help pay for the surgery.

Scott will be running in his garden for six hours, carrying a blue cooler box the entire time.

“If you have gone to Newlands cricket or rugby grounds, you would know BOETA CASSIEM. He is a Cape Town institution, selling his “lollies to make you jolly” or a “wafer to make you styfer” or “a sucker to make you wakker”. He needs cataracts removed, so he will once again see you and greet you with that bright smile. I will be running in my yard for 6 hours straight on 20 June with a blue cooler box in hand to raise funds for him. Beyond the need to have the cataract surgery, he also is not getting an income as sporting events are of course a no-no at the moment. Please open your hearts and your wallets.

PLEDGE ANY AMOUNT OR CHALLENGE YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILIES. Cmon, I know a HUGE cricket and rugby community will hit it for a six or slot that drop-goal for Boeta Cassiem.

Feel free to contact me on arendsescott7@gmail.com or 072 308 2853 if you have any questions.”

You can watch Scott’s progress via the Facebook event he has set up. He will be doing the run on the 20th of June 2020.
