Peter Marshall was diagnosed with aggressive Alzheimer’s, which led to him forgetting his wedding day, so he married his wife Lisa again to create new memories.

Global (28 June 2021) – Real love stories are what carry us through our toughest days; they give hope and inspire love. This is a love story that is standing the test of human fragility and gives an example of what “through sickness and health” stands for.

When a couple gets married, they vow to love and to cherish, to protect and defend, and above all, support through thick and thin. Life has a toughness about it, and often that affects marriages, many of which don’t stand the test of time.

The story of Peter and Lisa Marshall shows that real love stories do exist.

Peter and Lisa got married years ago, and over the decades, their love has grown stronger. Life threw them a curveball when Peter, aged 56 was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

Alzheimer’s is a horrific disease that steals your memories and eventually leads you so far from yourself; you don’t remember the ones you love most. This is what started happening to Peter. He started forgetting his wedding day, one of the most important days of his life.

To remedy the situation and give his wife a new memory to cherish when days are darkest, Peter married Lisa again. The couple renewed their vows in the most beautiful ceremony.

Lisa shared the couple’s story on her Facebook page called “Oh Hello Alzheimer’s”, which you can follow here. Lisa explains that they have always loved to dance, so if you have your partner around still, she encourages you to dance!

“We’ve always danced. Anywhere. Everywhere. And yes, we still dance in the kitchen and Peter doesn’t miss a beat! Dance People. For goodness sake, Dance!”
