A COVID testing team jumped into action to save a woman whose car had somehow set alight and then asked her to pay the kindness forward.
Western Cape, South Africa (25 December 2021) – Magriet Kruger was at the Drive-Thru COVID-19 testing facility in Green Point when heavy smoke started blowing out of her air vents into the car. She knew something was wrong so opened her bonnet, and that’s when she saw a fire in her engine.
In the blink of an eye, the entire Biosmart team members jumped into action and immediately responded to her calls for help.
Raphael Finch got a fire extinguisher from Hamilton Rugby Club and doused the flames. Stefan Lakey loaned her his personal phone so that she could get in touch with insurance. And the Manager – Clint de Kock – checked whether Magriet was okay or needed any further help.
“The whole team was super helpful and supportive. They carried out their duties and assisted me at a difficult time while keeping everyone safe from the potential transmission. What’s more, they refused any token of appreciation but simply asked me to pay it forward. What an inspiration.”
Magriet has promised to do just that and will be paying a kindness forward but first wanted to pay tribute to the Biosmart team at the Covid-19 testing facility in Green Point, Cape Town. Thank you to everyone who stepped in to help.
