Lucky Adams is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to his hometown of Cradock. He is also known as the Marathon Man and is about to do his 21st Comrades.
Lucky Adams was born in Cradock in 1959. His mind holds a history so detailed he could tell you who was born where and when! He plays a massive role within the community and was even a feature in the Road Tripper Eastern Cape Karoo guide.
Lucky even remembers when the 1000th car was registered in the town and which places had the best supplies!
He can tell you who lived where, who married whom, how many children they had, and where they find themselves these days.
Where the municipal dip tanks were and where one sourced the best wire for the crafting of draadkarretjies en windpompe – wire cars and windpumps.
Lucky has a private delivery service, he uses his bicycle to hand deliver letters. Every Christmas he hand delivers his famous ‘Lucky Cards’ to clients, in which he summarizes the crazy events of the year in a witty way.
He is most famous for his dedication to running, earning himself the name ‘Marathon Man of Cradock’. Over the years he has accomplished so much in the running world. He started running the Comrades in 1985 and has received 20 medals. You can spot him running wearing number 12048.
