An organisation is creating jobs for the homeless to help keep them off the streets

The organisation ‘Rusti’ is creating jobs and raising funds to help the homeless with jobs that will teach them skills and get them off the streets

‘Rusti’ was started in Parow, a suburb in Cape Town. It aims to help the local homeless community to better their lives. Steve Bush started crowdfunding to raise a small amount of money to help with the project.

“Rusti is a project based in Parow, near Cape Town, South Africa. It is designed to help homeless people by taking them off the street and teaching them skills for life in order that they can rebuild their lives with purpose”

The organisation is a non-profit that has a small workshop which is currently making the much coveted style of outdoor wooden pallet furniture. They workshop makes use of old wooden pallets to build the furniture, this is what is creating jobs for the homeless and giving them purpose.

“The premises, tools and workshop space is currently very limited, as are the funds to help people. So I have started this crowdfunder to raise some much needed funds to assist with this worthwhile project.”

“We collect pallets donated to us and have homeless people turning this into furniture.”

“This is a project run by South Africans for South Africans, all they need is a little funding to help them develop”

The programme aims to help the homeless irregardless of their past lives. They believe that every human deserves a second chance, just like the discarded old wooden pallets.
