A father made sure he could spend time with his daughter – who had to work on Christmas – by becoming a passenger on every flight she was scheduled to work.
United States of America (05 January 2019) – In a heartwarming gesture, Hal Vaughan booked multiple flights on Christmas so that he could be with his daughter Pierce Vaughan, a flight attendant for Delta Air Lines.
In a Facebook post, Mike Levy said he met Hal on one of those flights and posted the photos to tell others about the beautiful story.
“I had the pleasure of sitting next to Hal on my flight back home,” Levy wrote.
“His daughter Pierce was our flight attendant who had to work over Christmas. Hal decided he would spend the holiday with her. So, he is flying on each of her flights today and tomorrow around the country to spend time with his daughter for Christmas. What a fantastic father! Wish you both a very Merry Christmas!”
Levy said the father struggled a bit through airports due to an accident that happened this year.
“He is still recovering from a neck injury from earlier in the year, which had left him quadriplegic for a period,” Levy said. “This was his first trip since the accident.”
Pierce, also posted about the special trip on Facebook, saying that her father made it on every flight and “even got first class RSW-DTW” calling it a “Christmas miracle”.
“Look ma we made it Kimberly Hal Vaughan!
Dad’s first trip using his benefits was a success! A special thanks to all of the patient, wonderful gate agents around the country and my perfect crew. He made it on every flight and even got first class RSW-DTW (Christmas miracle).
Shoutout to Mike Levy for being a great first class passenger & helping us to understand how cool this actually is!”
Delta responded to this story of a dad’s devotion to his daughter at Christmastime.
“We appreciate all of our employees for working during the holidays to serve Delta customers, and love seeing this awesome Dad having the chance to spend Christmas with his daughter — even while crisscrossing the country at 30,000 feet,” it said.
