Two young ladies grabbed their aprons and baked 88 doggie cupcakes for DARG, making sure there was no xylitol in any of the ingredients; the dogs LOVED their spoils.

Hout Bay, South Africa (16 May 2023) – Two ambitious young bakers, Sophie and Mia from Hout Bay International School, baked 88 doggie-approved cupcakes for the animals currently living at DARG. They wanted to spread a little cheer so they put on their aprons and got baking.

DARG is a pro-life, non-profit organisation that rescues, cares for, sterilises and rehomes previously abused, neglected and abandoned cats and dogs. The incredible organisation provides a crucial role for the communities of Imizamo Yethu, Hangberg and the greater Hout Bay area.

The cupcakes were an absolute treat and the DARG team thanked the young bakers for doing their research to make sure all the ingredients used, were dog-safe. They even supplied a full list of ingredients used so the team would also know what was baked into the hearty goods.

One ingredient that crops up without many knowing is xylitol. It is toxic to dogs so it was a big deal that Sophie and Mia took the time to double-check every ingredient.

Sometimes, it’s a simple baked good that can bring absolute cheer to others. We are sure the pups absolutely adored their treats!
