DJ LuWayne Wonder sets up a crowdfund to help raise funds to get his wife home after she suffered a massive stroke and brain haemorrhage.

Dubai, Unites Arab Emirates (17 November 2020) – Two weeks ago we shared the story of DJ LuWayne Wonder and his wife Crystal Bouwers. Crystal had suffered a brain haemorrhage and needed to get back to South Africa for rehabilitation. Luwayne launched an event in the hopes of raising money to help pay for Crystal’s medical flight home.

Many people asked Luwayne to please set up a crowdfund so that they could donate through that platform as well. He set up one on the BackaBuddy platform to help reach the other half of the financial goal.

This is the harrowing story…

The couple welcomed their third child into the world on the 21st of September. The couple were overjoyed and welcomed their little girl into the world with the love and support of many.

Sadly, just a few weeks later, Crystal suffered a brain haemorrhage and burst a blood vessel which has left her with blood on her brain. She slipped into a coma and has been in one since then. Thankfully, they performed brain surgery, so she has had the best medical care so far.

Luwayne has done everything in his power to support his wife all the while caring for his two daughters and newborn child. Between caring for them, he has been with Crystal and seen that she needs rehabilitation. The only way to do that is to send her home here to South Africa, where she can get the rehabilitation needed to recover.

As he is a performer and relies on events for income, he is in no position to cover the quote he has received from the airline that would bring her home. He needs a total of R500,000 which will cover the costs of a “medical evacuation” and her care during the flight.

As Luwayne is a DJ, he doesn’t want something for nothing, he has set up a virtual event with some of his favourite DJs and needs to sell 10,000 tickets for the event to raise the funds needed. Each ticket is R50 and will give the purchaser an evening of entertainment.

He is now 60% of the way. Performers have signed on for the show which will take place on the 22nd of November 2020. If you would like to be one of the 10,000, you can purchase a ticket to help get Crystal back to South Africa here.

Now that there is a crowdfund set up as well, you can donate via that avenue as well. Every cent raised will help get Crystal back home to South Africa and into rehab so she can recover and be reunited with her newborn, children and family.

You can support via BackaBuddy here.
