Doctors and Nurses at Livingstone Hospital in Port Elizabeth are singing the COVID-19 blues away with an original song in the hopes to inspire South Africa.

Port Elizabeth, South Africa (02 September 2020) – The COVID-19 pandemic has shone a very bright and critical light on the health sector in South Africa. Hospitals like the Livingstone Hospital and Dora Nginza faced particularly bad press over the last few months.

Often times, the staff working in government hospitals have to work with what they have access to despite their wish and will to do more. Professor Lungile Pepeta wanted to shine a light of positivity on the staff of Livingstone Hospital.

A song was penned, inspired by Professor Lungile Pepeta to help combat some of the negative publicity that Dora Nginza and Livingstone Hospital have experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic.

‘The concept was received with great enthusiasm by our tremendous team of clinicians. Primarily driven by the ICU team, we involved our surgeons, emergency physicians and so many more world-class Healthcare professionals who are the ‘masked face’ of late nights and hard work. Most have never been in a recording studio, let alone sing on an original song they’ve never heard before.

These great heroes rose to the occasion and gave it their best. “We were so unified through this process and trust that the world gets to see a little beyond the anxiety of the Covid19 pandemic with our song.’

Take a look at the doctors and nurses giving it their all in this original song.
