Nureldin Mohamed has earned a place at Harvard University as well as a full scholarship; he is deciding between Computer Science or Biological Engineering.
Durban, South Africa (09 January 2023) – Durban High School is very proud of their 2022 graduate Nureldin Mohamed who has earned a full scholarship to Harvard University. The school took to social media to celebrate his achievement and thank him for all he has done for the school.
Nureldin will be heading to Harvard in August 2023 and is being supported with full financial assistance due to his high marks in his final year. Durban High School runs on the Cambridge educational system which means grades are similar to that of the USA. According to the school, Nureldin’s final grades are predicted to be A’s.
“Nureldin Mohamed Cambridge Dux 2022, has been selected for Harvard University on his Cambridge AS results (A grades) and his predicted A Level results, with Full Financial Assistance. We are so proud of this outstanding achievement as his acceptance comes 2 weeks before the closing date for entries. The chosen study pathway he is weighing up is between Computer Science and Biological Engineering.”
Before heading to university, Nureldin hopes to write a research paper. He has previously completed two other papers. He also hopes to give his time to the school by helping teach hopeful learners.
During his time at the school, he gave back by teaching his fellow students web design and machine design three times a week. His classes formed part of the “elective programme” which allows students to take additional subjects that don’t form part of the school curriculum.
Educational success seems to run in the family as Nureldin will be joining his brother Adam at Harvard. Adam also completed his schooling at Durban High School. He too applied to study at Harvard after his matric year and was given the opportunity to do so on a full scholarship. Adam is now in his second year, doing a degree in Computer Science.
The school couldn’t be prouder. And we think it is safe to say, South Africa agrees!
