A retired man from Eastern Cape was shocked to find out he was the Lotto winner his town was searching for. His plans for the money will warm your heart!
The Lotto draw on the 4th of November had a winner, only the winner didn’t come forward to claim their money… The winning ticket was from a SPAR in the town of Dutywa.
The town was notified that the winning ticket was there and people started lining up to have their tickets checked. Meanwhile, the man that had won the jackpot watched the crowds come and go, never thinking to check his ticket. It wasn’t until one day while reading the paper on his stoep that he saw the story and realised he had a ticket.
He ran back into the house and grabbed the ticket, he checked the numbers on the paper and suddenly realised it was him, he was the winner!
The man’s identity has been kept anonymous but he was interviewed and asked what he would do with the R50 million. His responses made us smile and were really heartwarming.
“I am a careful spender,” he said. “I will try to keep my life simple and invest the money.
“This will make a big difference to us. My biggest dream has always been to have a happy family.
“I have always played the Lotto and I had hoped that one day I would win.”
The man only told his wife and oldest child. He wants to keep his home as normal as possible and has decided not to tell his younger children just yet.
“I won’t tell my younger kids yet because they are still busy with exams and this might distract them,” he said.
“I will not let the money change who I am, but now I can for sure pay my children’s school fees.
“It will be easy now to send them to school because we won’t worry about financial troubles.
“I also plan on building a house for my family.
“I am still going to think about donating some of the money to charity.”
The man is a 58-year-old pensioner who’s entire life has changed and he is planning to help change the lives of others. What a generous soul!
The win is the biggest the Eastern Cape has ever had and the small town SPAR is over the moon that they sold the ticket!
“We are very excited and happy that the winner of such a large amount is from our area and played at our store.”
“This will make history and a legacy for our store as we believe that this is the biggest win in the province so far. Everyone has been talking about this. We have more customers now and as I speak to you the Lotto queue is long with people who want to be next in winning millions.” – SPAR manager Ntangashe
