Dr Clifford Bull believes that compassion goes beyond animals so every year he collects thousands of Easter Eggs for the East Rand community.

East Rand, South Africa (28 February 2023) – Dr Clifford Bull has a great love for Easter time, every year he works towards making sure his community enjoys the joys of Easter by handing out thousands of Easter Eggs. Not only does he promote joy in his community on the East Rand, but he also advocates against gifting bunnies at Easter.

The vet, who owns and runs the Craig View Veterinary Clinic, started the charity challenge in 2018 and managed to collect 50,720 Easter Eggs.

“The project was born when Dr Bull noticed the simplicity of marshmallow Easter Eggs. He also recognised that his support base of clients were so loyal and enthusiastic that he believed he could get the community to help, he did not want to just stop at assisting pets and wildlife that found themselves in trouble and felt the humans needed compassion too.

He began the collection of marshmallow Easter eggs, challenging local businesses that donated and challenged their clients. It was a snowball effect and many of the businesses, wildlife clients and pet families stepped up to support Dr Bull’s efforts to ensure each child at local East Rand orphanages, church soup kitchens and seniors at old age homes each received (at the very least) an Easter egg.” – Samantha Jacobs, animal welfare supporter

In 2019, the charity challenge nearly doubled in collections. Sadly, in 2020 and 2021, the challenge was placed on hold but Dr Cliff decided 2022 would be a big comeback year. The team rallied the community and they collected 1500 boxes of eggs (that’s a whopping 54,000 eggs).

The team have already gotten started and is looking forward to spreading a little joy and compassion this year. Compassion is one of the cornerstones of the Craig View Veterinary Clinic.

“We believe our compassion does not start and end with our patients but should extend to our community too.

The less fortunate children and elderly have come to rely on us to arrive at Easter and somehow their appreciation and excitement seems to grow year by year.” – Craig View Veterinary Clinic
