Children currently receiving care at The Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital got a wonderful gift for World Children’s Day, the gift of creativity and fun!

Cape Town, South Africa (20 November 2023) – The 20th of November is World Children’s Day, a day dedicated to uplifting the young minds of our future. Fabiani has partnered with The Children’s Hospital Trust, in support of The Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital for the 15th consecutive year.

This year, in celebration of the important day, Fabiani has once again launched its ‘The Last Red Buttonhole Project’. The project sees the brand’s finely crafted attire take on a unique twist, with a signature shirt adopting a red buttonhole, in honour of the children at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital. Funds raised through the sale of the shirt go towards caring for sickly children.

This incredible project has been successfully running for the past 15 years, making a big difference, one button at a time.

In an effort to bring added joy to this year’s celebrations, a fun-filled day was planned and each child was gifted a stylish branded colouring-in book and accompanying pencils. The gift, enough to unleash the creativity of every hopeful child.

Over the years, Fabiani’s customers have been the reason R1 million has been donated to The Children’s Hospital Trust. A further R250,000 went towards expanding the emergency centre in 2020 to serve the most critically ill and injured children.

In the past, funds have also gone to The Red Cross Pre-Primary School and Therapeutic Centre. The school focuses on bedside learning for children who spend extensive periods of time at the hospital and concentrates on key learning areas such as life orientation, numeracy, literacy and computer skills.

This annual celebration of men’s fashion and giving back to the children of South Africa makes a meaningful impact beyond just World Children’s Day. It helps build community, helps children heal and most importantly, it gives us all a chance to give back in some way.

So if you see a red buttonhole, know that it is more than a fashion statement, it’s change in the making!
