The rainbow is a symbol for many things, and one family is using it to inspire hope in their community by painting their gate during the lockdown.
Hilton, South Africa (06 April 2020) – During troubling times, it can be difficult to stay hopeful so the Stainbank family are reminding their community to stay hopeful. They painted their gate as a rainbow and stuck up a sign that says hope.
Keith Stainbank shared his family’s story and how his wife has inspired hundreds of children to spread the message of hope.
“What started as a small project to keep the kids busy and to express a Rainbow of Hope, has grown in a wider expression of hope that has inspired many others. Using her platform as a teacher at Merchiston Preparatory School, she challenged her students to show the world their own Rainbow of Hope. The result was overwhelming as countless kids, all stuck at home because of the lockdown, sent through their own Rainbows of Hope.”
The children all started painting and drawing rainbows of hope and sharing them on social media.
“Her simple act as a local message of hope has spread wider than she would of thought. In these dire times, it feels like we could all use an extra dose of hope and unity. I’ll admit my first reaction to seeing my gate turned into a rainbow was one of shock but it has grown on me and I am now proud of our Rainbow Gate!”
The gate reminds the community to have hope and the message of painting or drawing rainbows shares the same.
So should you wish to inspire your own family or community, you simply need to paint a rainbow and stick it in your window, post it on social media and remind everyone to remain hopeful during this time.
