Anastasya Eliseeva and friends have been feeding the residents of the Vrededorp informal settlement after a fire burned everything to the ground.

Vrededorp, South Africa (26 July 2021) – It has been freezing cold, and with the cold comes the danger of fires. Sadly, a fire spread through the Vrededorp informal settlement and left over 60 people homeless and exposed to cold temperatures.

The informal settlement was home to 30 families that now have nothing. Several people have been working to support the community with warm meals. Anastasya Eliseeva and friends have been cooking warm meals each day and delivering them to the community.

Anastasya and friends are looking for funding, food donations, volunteers to cook meals, masks and sanitiser. If you would like to reach out to help, you can contact Anastasya here.

The Angel Network sent 240 blankets to Afrika Awake to help keep people warm. Afrika Awake has been managing the funds sent in and using them to purchase food, clothing and blankets. They also welcome donations of those things too.

Afrika Awake is a non-profit that works with refugees and asylum seekers. They always step up when people from these communities are affected by tragedy.
