What would you do if a man dressed in almost every single type of South African traditional wear… rocked up at your office?
When Kim Williams saw “Ziggi” walk into the Lonehill Firestation, she thought she may be dealing with a madman, but was completely surprised when he turned out to be there to share some love and kindness with the paramedics and firefighters.
“This made my day, in fact my week. At first I was not sure what I was dealing with and I will confess I started thinking about the possible drugs I may need to use when I was confronted by this really dear man dressed in this rather unique mixed traditional outfit.”
The man dressed in the unique mixed traditional outfit was actual Johannesburg pastor Ziggi Aussel who has made headlines many times. He and his wife, Hetta, are founders of the SA Prayer Embassy movement. The movement’s mission, Aussel says is to pray so that each individual becomes a national treasure.
The Paster pitched up at Williams’ station to offer to pray for the firefighters and paramedics.
“In all my years I had not seen this before and I will make another confession, that I was expecting Leon Schuster to jump out from somewhere.”
Aussel wears a unique mix of traditional wear to represent all South Africans.
“Pastor Ziggi told me that he wears a turbin on his head for the Indian population, Ndebele necklace, Zulu Beads, a cross around his neck, Pedi shells around his ankles and other pieces to represent all of South Africans and not to forget his shield.
His reasoning is that people did not want to let him in while dressed in a suit, but dressed like this people wanted to talk to him.
He prayed for us and even blessed my response car. Preeety epic guys!”
What an incredible, simple act of kindness. Thank you Pastor Ziggi for acknowledging and looking after our everyday heroes.
