Yeshiva College PTA came up with a way to raise funds, and it has caused many laugh-out-loud moments and community joy through the fundraiser.
Johannesburg, South Africa (12 March 2021) – Yeshiva College PTA started a fundraising campaign, and it has their entire community laughing out loud.
The school moms leave home early each morning and pick a house of a child enrolled in the school; they then place a flock of flamingos on their front lawn and only remove it once the family has made a donation to the cause.
The fundraiser has been running for the last two weeks, and there is one week to go. Anyone who has not yet been flocked, be warned; a flock is probably coming your way. Nikki Meyberg shared the story about the flocks with us and explained how much joy it is bringing the community.
“In a nutshell we planted ‘flocks’ of flamingoes outside someone’s home with the slogan ‘you’ve been flocked’ for a donation you then have paid for the right to flock someone else and these flocks have been circulating for 2 weeks with one week to go.
‘Flockers’ (moms at the school) place the flocks outside first thing in the morning for the first time (we can be seen stealthily roaming the streets at sunrise) or midday before the kids get back from school. The hype has been incredible and the whole community is in on it. It’s brought so much laughter and joy
Whilst the money raised is a bonus the greatest part is the absolute joy being flocked is bringing both adults, kids and security guards alike.” – Nikki Meyberg
