Talented kid pianist Rebecca Seziba went viral last year after the young maestro was caught filling a local mall with magic as she took to a public piano.
Now, she’s set to perform on one of SA’s most impressive stages!
Cape Town, South Africa (26 May, 2023) — Kid pianist Rebecca Seziba(9) had South Africa saying ‘we’re all ears’ after she filled a local mall with sounds so gorgeous they’d make anyone drop their shopping bags.
Rudi Smith caught the little maestro in action as she took to a baby grand in Table Bay Mall in December last year. Rebecca’s rendition of ‘My Heart Will Go On’ was too beautiful not to share, so Rudi did.
It wasn’t long until the video reached ears all around South Africa and the world, even going as far as to land little Rebecca an international collaboration.
Now, the kid pianist is doing more than alright; set to trade mall interiors for one of South Africa’s biggest stages which she’ll share with some of South Africa’s top musicians.
Rebecca will perform with saxophone star Don Vino Prins—Don Vino—and have her moment on a real stage at the Grand West Arena in Cape Town for an expected crowd of 5000. Here, she’ll be part of a lineup including Robin Pieters, Craig Lucas, Loyiso and DJ Zinhle.
Beyond the fact that she’s just 9 years old and already mastering the ivory keys, Rebecca is also completely self-taught with an innate gift the best-of-the-best share: the ability to play by ear like she’d heard the piece ten times before.
Cudos to our little pianist! She’ll light up the stage on 17 June, and you can grab tickets here.
