A Gordon’s Bay resident reached out to Good Things Guy to sing the praises of the local post office team who delivered service despite not having computer systems, power or any support.
Gordon’s Bay, South Africa (25 April 2024) – The Gordon’s Bay post office is closing its doors soon, this due to the failing system and support from the powers that be. Despite this, the staff who are all losing their jobs, have performed their duties to the best of their abilities. A local resident shared that she was awe-struck by their commitment despite their circumstances.
According to her, the post office staff continues to perform their duties while operating in the dark, without power for their systems, and with the telephone lines switched off.
For the local, the staff went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly. She gave a big shout-out to Gail and the team. She shared that while the post office was due to close this month, it has extended operations for one final month, just to help the community with any final postal needs.
“I have received quite a few items for collection and Gail has personally sent me WhatsApp messages every time, to let me know to collect! Who does that? Heroes of the community do that, that’s who.
Every time I went to that post office I was greeted with smiles and friendly attitudes. Imagine working in those conditions, but these folk made the best of an awful situation and served the community. It’s going to be sad when they are gone. They will be sorely missed.”
While South Africa faces challenges on all fronts, her people face them back, determined to tackle each one and to find a solution or adapt to the changes that come.
Gail and the Gordon’s Bay postal team are shining beacons when times are tough, and their commitment to continue serving inspires us every day!
