Mbombela, South Africa (05 April 2023) – The community of Mbombela, formally Nelspruit, has been building up support efforts for the Grace Baby Haven, which takes in abused and abandoned babies. The Haven was started in 2021 and has already touched so many young lives.

The Grace Baby Haven cares for babies between the age of newborn, to four years old. It is run by The City Changers Social Services Association, which is a non-profit providing services to young and old in the city.

After opening in late 2021, they welcomed the first baby in January 2022. The team works tirelessly to care for and protect each of the babies in their care. To date, they have taken in 14 babies and toddlers.

They rely on the support of the community and over the last few weeks, have felt it! Several charity drives have been held for their benefit. The first was started by Westend SPAR, the community were able to place wishlist items in the store’s collection bin. The community donated three trolleys worth of goods during the month of March.

More recently, the community of Kaapsehoop are hosting an Easter weekend market and they too will be collecting items for the baby haven and donating stall fees towards the running of the haven.
