Blankets

Rebecca Queiros, a grade 6 pupil at St Paulus primary, recently learned that her local SPCA was in need of blankets before the cold sets in so she is collecting money to buy 2000 blankets for the animals.

Rebecca Queiros visited the Waltloo SPCA to have a chat with the manager there. She learned that the SPCA was in need of funding but decided to ask what else they needed. One of the biggest concerns was keeping their 400 kennels warm in the winter.

With the current cold snap chilling Gauteng, Rebecca has sprung into action to make sure the dogs have blankets. She asked how many blankets would be needed and the number 2000 came up. Undaunted, Rebecca started campaigning with her neighbours and managed to collect 71 blankets plus some food.

Now she is determined to reach her target of 2000 and started a campaign on BackaBuddy. She is raising R6000.00 which will cover the cost of 100 blankets. She has checked pricing and found that PEP has the best deal for sturdy blankets, at R60.00 each.

The reason they need so many is that when one set is being washed, they have a second set ready to go. She shared a personal message on her campaign explaining why she wanted to help.

Tshwane SPCA is doing a great job under tough circumstances:
* 38 100 animals assisted in 2017!
* 4255 adoptions since March 2015!

“I am a Grade 6 pupil at St Paulus primary. I visited the manager of the Waltloo SPCA to see what they needed. An immediate need is 2000 blankets for this winter (and it’s cold already!). They have 400 kennels with several dogs each and need a spare set when the one set is washed.”

With the youth working to make a difference, South Africa looks brighter every day! To help Rebecca reach her goal, take a look at her campaign here.

“Please help keep a rescue doggie warm this winter. Thank you, love Rebecca”
