Artists for Grenfell

UK musicians came together to sing a tribute song for the victims and families of the Grenfell Tower Fire, it was done beautifully and is very moving!

The Grenfell Tower fire has been listed as the deadliest event to occur in the UK since the second world war! The 24 storey building went up in flames on the 14th of June. The fire was caused by a faulty fridge-freezer and spread rapidly through the building.

The UK government made a £5 million fund available for the victims of the fire. A group of UK based musicians also came together to sing a tribute song in aid of the victims.

Artists such as Leona Lewis, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Robby Williams and more came together to sing ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’. The song is being sold on iTunes and profits will be going to the victims and survivors of the fire. They are being called ‘Artists for Grenfell’. Simon Cowell got all the artists together for the tribute.

“You kind of think, what can I do? Do you donate some money and I was thinking, well maybe we could do a little more than that and that’s how the record came about.” – Simon Cowell

Simon Cowell also reportedly donated £100,000 of his own money to the cause. The song has been so popular it has jumped to the number 1 on the singles chart. It had sold 170,000 copies in two days and has been declared the second fastest-selling single of the year.
