Young Cancer warrior surprised by all her friends with a birthday street celebration!

Texas, United States of America (23 March 2020)Leukaemia is a battle that takes years and 9th grader – Swassie Linssen – has been battling for years and is now also facing the threat of the Coronavirus Pandemic.

“Leukaemia is a cancer of blood-forming tissues, including bone marrow. Many types exist such as acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, acute myeloid leukaemia and chronic lymphocytic leukaemia. Many patients with slow-growing types of leukaemia don’t have symptoms. Rapidly growing types of leukaemia may cause symptoms that include fatigue, weight loss, frequent infections and easy bleeding or bruising. Treatment is highly variable. For slow-growing leukaemias, treatment may include monitoring. For aggressive leukaemias, treatment includes chemotherapy that’s sometimes followed by radiation and a stem-cell transplant.”

The young lady has been quarantined on a regular basis for the past 2 years but her friends would not let her miss her birthday this year.

“Leave it up to amazing friends to surprise her and serenade Happy birthday to her. She was overwhelmed with joy and emotions. We love you all!!”
