Radius Masukume has been hailed a hero for saving a woman from two men who had attacked her and were raping her, he was stabbed multiple times but did not stop trying to help her.

Cape Town, South Africa –  After weeks of heartbreaking stories of gender-based violence, a hero has emerged. Radius Masukume has been hailed a hero for fighting off two rapists who had targeted a woman in Table View, Cape Town.

Radius saw the men attack the woman, proceeding to rape her. He ran towards her, screaming for them to stop. He pulled them off her and was attacked. He was stabbed multiple times, including his face. In the end, he managed to scare the men off, preventing them from harming the woman any further.

Paramedics arrived and saw to both Radius and the woman. While treating his wounds, they heard the story and took his photo. It was then shared with ‘Keep The Energy’, a group started to fight against gender-based violence.

They decided to repay Radius for his heroic efforts by raising R15,000.00 for him. So far they have raised over R13,000.00. If you would like to support the crowdfund, you can do so here.

It is in times of tragedy that we need to look for the helpers, they are the real heroes & the South Africans we need to celebrate!

Thank you Radius!
