Petrol Attendant

Gerhard Grove had been at the Engen garage in Harrismith when his wallet fell out of his pocket; petrol attendant Petrus found the wallet and returned it.

Harrismith, South Africa (13 April 2021) – When Petrus found a wallet on the floor of the Engen garage where he worked, he immediately tried to reunite it with the owner. It is this action that has earned him praise on social media from thousands of South Africans.

Petrus found the wallet and quickly opened it to check if there was any identifying information. He found what he was looking for but didn’t have airtime to call the number. Another kind gentleman named Fika let Petrus use his phone to make the call.

Petrus called the number, and Gerhard Grove answered. He was blown away by Petrus’ efforts to reach him and let him know his wallet had been found.

Gerhard went back to the Engen garage in Harrismith to collect his wallet. When he got there, he asked Petrus to pose in a photo with him so he could tell the big bosses at Engen about his honourable service.

“We stopped for fuel at the Engen garage in Harrismith(the old Engen with the N5 restaurant) and my wallet fell out. Even though my wallet was full of cash, the petrol attendant Petrus found my number inside my wallet and phoned me immediately without taking a cent, there’s still good people out there and they need recognition.

Thanks to Petrus for my wallet and Fika for letting Petrus use your phone to phone me

Engen SA you guys can be proud to have a worker like Petrus working for you”

Gerhard hopes that everyone who meets Petrus honours him for his honesty and excellent service. Whoever the big bosses are, we hope they see his efforts too!
