Beanies

A whole bunch of beanies were recently donated to Charity Begins With Me and handed out in time for the coming cold front.

Johannesburg, South Africa (03 June 2024) – Gauteng (and most of South Africa) has been hit by its first cold front and temperatures are going to drop. Charity Begins With Me got a huge donation of knitted beanies from long-time supporter Sonia Hood and the Rosebank Rotary Handmade with Love team.

The beanies arrived just in time to be handed out to the children Charity Begins With Me supports. Last year, the local Rotary club sent the donation in July, but this year, Sonia knew the need would come a lot sooner.

Charity Begins With Me was able to hand out the donated beanies over the weekend which will really come in handy over the next few days. These warm-knitted goods added that extra layer of love!

Stephen Ferreira started ‘Charity Begins With Me‘ shortly after he was first diagnosed with cancer in 2016. He realised he could do so much more with the life he had left and quickly set up the charity as a way to give back. He ran the charity throughout his chemotherapy treatments, remission and, sadly, his relapse. Whatever battles he faces in his own life, it is those of others that give him the strength to push through.

Working with the local community has become a huge part of Stephen’s life, and making sure everyone has equal opportunity is even more so. Times are tough and he is seeing it first-hand, on the ground.
