The loss of constable Dwane Kemp moved the city of Port Elizabeth deeply. Since his funeral a photo of his partner and his stepdaughter hugging has gone viral.

Port Elizabeth, South Africa – The end of January was a heartbreaking time for the policing community in PE. One of their own, Dwane Kemp was taken from this earth by armed robbers.

Dwane, a flying squad member and his partner constable Musa Hans responded to an armed robbery at the La Bon Bakery. They were immediately overcome by 5 armed robbers that had opened fire. Constable Dwane Kemp was shot twice in the stomach while Musa managed to fire back at the men, taking out 4 of the 5 men.

The fifth armed robber made his getaway.

Sadly, constable Dwane Kemp succumbed to his injuries. His family were rocked to their core, his wife Candice is just about due with their first child together and according to her, he was an incredible stepfather to her daughter Jadyn. He took her in as his own without a word.

He was a great man and an asset to the South African police force. Just like in the movies, police officers connect deeply with their partners. This was the case with constables Dwane and Musa. The pair was a fierce force, upholding the law, protecting and serving the South African people.

The bond between them was strong so the loss rocked Musa just as deeply. After the funeral service, Musa knelt down to Jadyn and gave her a big hug for comfort, the image of this act has since gone viral. He then gifted her a locket with a picture of her dad in.

The police force stood by Candice, Jadyn and their unborn son who is due in the next few weeks. Police Minister Bheki Cele even attended the funeral.

While it is devastating to hear the news of Dwane’s passing, this story proves that love wins. People united to love and support the family in the worst moment of their lives. The police force promised to catch the last armed robber who had managed to get away and they succeeded.

The suspect was nabbed by the Hawks after a 6-day manhunt. The family and everyone who loved Dwane will now get the justice they deserve.

Take a look at the touching moment between Musa and Jadyn below. In the end, love will conquer all.
