Johannesburg, South Africa – On the 22 August 2019, Nomsa Phokompe shared a beautiful moment on her social media showing a Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) officer carrying an older lady’s groceries for her.

Officer Moloi was walking behind the woman when he offered to carry them for her!

Nomsa saw the act of kindness and knew that she had to tell others about it.

“I was walking behind this gentleman in Joburg CBD streets. The old lady had that bag on her head and he offered to help her carry her bag and cross the streets. UBUNTU guys!!! I just had to stop him and ask for his name and picture. We are led,” Nomsa tweeted

The post has since gone viral with South Africans celebrating the officer!

“What a reaffirmation that ours is instantaneously human spirit: Yes Ubuntu/Botho expression n behavioural conduct by this law enforcement officer and public servant! I remain optimistic!” – Katishi Masemola

Acts of Ubuntu. Be kind to a person and help where necessary is being a complete human to yourself and to others.” – Nkwe Mashamaite

“It shows there is still hope that things can get better; we need to talk more about the good deeds. Thanks for sharing.” – Kabini Makhubo

Thank you for sharing the story Nomsa, and also for sharing Officer Moloi’s awesome smile! Proudly South African, and PROUD of South Africa.
