While main stream media reported on the Joburg Mayor’s meeting being disrupted by ANC members, they forgot about what happened when the meeting ended and Herman Mashaba took to the streets to clean up the city.
Community leader and ANC member Simphiwe Hlafa claimed that Mashaba was being disrespectful for holding a meeting on the same day as President Jacob Zuma’s State of the Nation Address (SONA). The ANC members proceeded to protest which cut the meeting short.
But the evening did not end there.
The dedicated Mayor worked tirelessly, until the early hours of the morning, raiding drug dens, brothels and criminal hubs in Rosettenvile.
“I hate criminals with a passion, I will make their lives difficult. I know Rosettenville residents don’t want excuses from us, they want action. It is then my responsibility to make sure they are safe,” said Mashaba.
Mashaba took to the streets with the JMPD & SAPS to personally help the residents of Rosettenvile who for many years, lived in fear of criminals and drug lords.
“This is going to stop now. We are accountable and we are for our residents.”
The Mayor and the team found illegal structures, illegal electricity connections, weapons, drugs and illegal immigrants.
“Arrests have been made tonight and more arrests will follow.”
“It is the criminals that must live in fear. This isn’t a one-time event, this is just the beginning”
Well done Mr Mashaba. You don’t make promises and then don’t keep them! Good luck with your efforts and perhaps people take note and you are an example to others in similar positions.
It’s interesting how many people – loyal to ANC – would rather live under the corrupt government than see someone showing initiative to pull this country straight! More strength to your arm Mayor Mashaba!
