Natalie Almeida shared a beautiful story about how a Johannesburg restaurant gave her father, who is battling stage 4 cancer, the most thoughtful gift to ease his pain.
Natalie Almeida’s father was diagnosed with stage 4 Oesophagal cancer which severely affects his ability to swallow food. Knowing this and having to plan a family dinner at their local Papachinos, Natalie called ahead to see if the restaurant served soup. The manager said that unfortunately, they didn’t.
Natalie explained the situation to the man on the phone and he confirmed that the restaurant would make a plan for the family. That in itself is an incredible thing for the Clearwater Papachinos to do but what happened the night of the dinner was even more beautiful.
The manager went above and beyond to provide the family with a solution and give them an enjoyable evening out. Sadly, Natalie’s father was too ill to join the dinner party.
“‘Gary’ the manager then arranged for a nicely packed take away, of the most delicious chicken and veg soup you have ever tasted. The chef clearly went all out!”
“My dad was elated when we got home as after days of not keeping much down he slurped up every last drop of a huge portion. Not to mention they would not accept payment for the soup either.”
“I just really wanted to give a shout out to them. Such a small gesture of kindness made a whole family smile during a very trying time”
It is small acts of kindness like this that make entire communities blossom. We love sharing stories like this, they uplift everyone that reads them.
