Since 2015, KZN Valley Dogs has been bringing hope to the Inanda and Shongweni Valleys, feeding over 1,200 dogs and cats each week and teaching communities the power of compassion.
KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa (17 October 2025) – It started with a simple act of kindness. A few dogs are being fed on the side of the road. But behind their Facebook posts is a community of animal lovers who have been changing lives across KwaZulu-Natal.
Since 2015, KZN Valley Dogs has been on a mission to rescue and care for disadvantaged dogs and cats in the Inanda and Shongweni Valleys. Every week, their team provides nutritious meals and essential veterinary care to more than 1,200 dogs and cats.
But they don’t stop there. Through their feeding scheme, they have built trust and lasting relationships within the local community. Especially with children, who are often seen joyfully helping to dish out food. Along the way, KZN Valley Dogs also teaches these young helpers about responsible pet ownership and animal welfare.
Every bowl filled, every dog vaccinated, and every trip into the valleys depends entirely on donations and community support. Whether it’s a bag of dog food, a few rands, or even just spreading the word, it all makes a difference.
The next time you see one of their posts, know that behind every wagging tail is a story of hope.
If you’d like to help KZN Valley Dogs continue their incredible work, here’s how you can make a difference.
