In the wake of loadshedding and chilly autumnal rains, the Kitty and Puppy Haven is hosting a blanket drive to keep their rescues warm and dry this winter.

Midrand, South Africa (14 May 2023)The Kitty and Puppy Haven is facing loadshedding, rains and the winter chill in their efforts to keep all their rescues safe and warm. They have launched a blanket drive in the hope of upping their stock levels to get through the horrible weather.

The goal is to collect a total of 500 blankets which will be used to keep over 300 cats, dogs, kittens and puppies warm and dry this winter.

Like everyone in South Africa, the haven is being heavily affected by loadshedding at the moment. So blankets are the next best option.

“It’s bitterly cold (and wet, wet wet!) outside tonight and as you know Stage 6 loadshedding means longer and more frequent periods witout electricity. Without electricity our heaters can’t work so we need many more blankets to keep all our little ones warm and safely snug in this weather.

With the rain we aren’t able to dry our already wet or dirty blankets to keep a constant rotating supply. Please spare a thought for the 300+ kittens, puppies, cats and dogs in our care.

We know times are really tough at the moment but we need your help to keep everyone (especially the tinies) warm. Every bit helps.

Our babies send licks and tailwags in advance to say Thank You!”

Should you be able to send blankets or funds for blankets, you can find all the details in their poster below.
