On Sunday the 10 June, an Animal Shelter in Midrand, were woken up to discover that their Puppy Haven Buildings were on fire. They managed to rescue all their dogs and puppies that were in the area and they are all safe but suffered a massive loss in the process.

“On Sunday 10 June at around 6am a fire broke out in our puppy haven building. Thankfully no animals were harmed, we got them all out in time. They are all being monitored for smoke inhalation.

The fire completely gutted out building and 3 tons of dog and puppy food has been lost in the fire.”

At the exact moment the fire had started, three JMPD officers were driving past the sanctuary when they saw the smoke and took action.

These officers are the heroes that helped contain the fire before it could spread across the entire property.

“The officers were driving past and saw the smoke, they immediately entered the sanctuary, saw what was going on and sprang into action grabbing hoses and fire extinguishers to help us fight the fire until the fire department arrived.

We are forever in their debt.

Thank you Station Commander Joseph Kambaka, you can be so proud of your officers. Officer LH Madzhiga, Officer JM Aphang and Officer F Molai you are true heroes.”

Although not in their area, the COSMO CITY STATION 30 team then responded to the sanctuaries frantic calls for assistance on Sunday morning.

“Sometimes you need something bad to happen to allow good to come through. We always think of the song ” The Rose” and the last few days have been extraordinary.

To say that we are exhausted is an understatement, however we have never been more humbled and grateful to strangers that we have never met before.

We are blessed to have such amazing support. Please bear with us as we are completely overwhelmed at the moment and will be getting back to everyone and posting thank you’s as soon as we possibly can.

We are truly grateful to our amazing supporters and we thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts.”
