Fiona from Water for Paws has coordinated a massive drop-off of food and blankets to animal shelters in need in KZN; the first gets delivered this week!
Cape Town, South Africa (21 July 2021) – In January 2018, with Day Zero looming in Cape Town, Fiona Barron rallied South Africans and collected thousands of litres of water for animal shelters in the drought-stricken city. She has now rallied that same network, called Water for Paws, to support animal welfare organisations in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).
Fiona set up the WATER for PAWS Facebook page with the idea for it to become a central information point for both people wanting to donate water and for organisations to express their water needs. Within a matter of days, she had an influx of people wanting to make donations.
When news broke about the mayhem in KZN, she quickly started coordinating relief for animal welfare organisations stuck without access to aid.
She was able to establish a drop-off point in both Cape Town and Johannesburg. Andre van der Sandt took the lead in getting everything sorted in Johannesburg and has become a massive asset to the Water for Paws cause.
“Our first load of food for the pooches and kitties and blankies to keep the furbabies fed and warm will be on the way to KZN towards the end of this week.” – Water for Paws
