Tanya Pearce saw a dog running through a busy intersection off Malibongwe. She called the SPCA and followed the dog towards a group of people who seemed suspicious.
Tanya Pearce foiled a dog theft attempt by being assertive and calling the authorities when she felt the situation wasn’t quite right. She had been driving near Malibongwe when she saw a large dog running through a busy intersection.
She turned her car around to follow the dog and when she found it, it had been claimed by a group of people and collared with a piece of rope. She felt in her gut that the situation wasn’t quite right and called the SPCA.
The SPCA responded and as it turned out, Tanya was right, the dog had been saved thanks to her gut feeling. She shared her thanks to the SPCA and to the inspectors that assisted in saving the dog.
“I need to commend the Randburg SPCA on an amazing job, quick reaction and for not being scared to act.”
“I saw a dog running in the middle of a very busy intersection off Malibongwe. I phoned the SPCA and they said they would send someone. I turned my car around to locate the dog and hopefully get it off the street. By the time I got there a group of men and women had the dog with a rope around its neck.”
“I phoned the SPCA again explaining to them what was happening. They replied saying they were on their way. I stopped next to the group and asked them a few questions. Their story was that the dog was theirs, they had her with them to get her exercised and they were walking her back home.”
“I followed them with my hazards on to make sure the dog didn’t disappear. They then took her to a taxi rank where I followed. It must have been 10 to 15 minutes later the Randburg SPCA came with two cars stopping the group of people in their tracks. I didn’t feel safe at the time and left. The SPCA phoned me a few minutes later to say they got the dog away from these thieves.”
“Well done to the SPCA, to Inspector Jean, Inspector Molefi and Inspector Gift for a job well done!”
