Lewis Hamilton took time out before his race this weekend to spend time with a South African teen facing a huge cancer battle.
The Mercedes Formula One driver took time out after the qualifying stage at Silverstone to spend time with Klaas, a South African teen diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma.
Ewing’s Sarcoma is a very a very rare type of cancerous tumor. The cancer cells are found in the bone or in soft tissue an the most common areas in which it occurs are the pelvis, the femur, the humerus, the ribs and clavicle (collar bone).
Klaas’ biggest dream was to meet his F1 racing hero and it turned out to be one of the best days of his life.
Welcomed by the world class driver and the Mercedes F1 team with open arms, Klaas’ s life has just been inspired.
Hamilton opted out of a quick meeting and a hand shake and instead spent quality time with the youngster, getting to know him, showing him around and even invited him to watch the Qualifying from the Mercedes garage, hanging with Hamilton’s brother and the team.
