A lost iPhone’s heartwarming return has defied the odds and reaffirmed faith in humanity.

Western Cape, South Africa (04 October 2023) – In South Africa crime can often overshadow acts of kindness but a heartwarming story has emerged that reminds us all that goodness still thrives. Karen Morris recently shared an incredible story showcasing the best of humanity as a lost iPhone found its way back to its owner, defying the odds and reaffirming our faith in people’s innate decency.

The story began at Canal Walk, where Karen’s husband took a moment to relax on one of the benches. Amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life, he inadvertently left his iPhone behind in a moment of forgetfulness. Panic quickly set in as he realized his phone was missing; retracing his steps led to a disheartening discovery – the phone was nowhere to be seen.

With anxiety mounting, Karen decided to call her husband’s phone repeatedly, hoping against hope that someone would answer. As she dialled the number again and again, her eldest son came up with a brilliant idea: they should visit the iStore, just in case someone had turned in the lost phone.

While making her way to the iStore, Karen continued to dial her husband’s number, her heart heavy with worry. It wasn’t until the sixteenth attempt that she heard a child’s voice on the other end, followed by a man with a foreign accent.

Her heart skipped a beat as he calmly declared, “This is your phone; I have it.”

Overwhelmed with relief, Karen inquired about the man’s location. He revealed that he was standing outside the iStore, waiting to reunite her with the precious iPhone. Karen couldn’t contain her excitement, hurrying to the location where her faith in humanity would soon be restored. At the entrance of the iStore stood a man named Liton Shahriar, accompanied by his wife, their young daughter, and his father-in-law. Karen’s gratitude knew no bounds as she embraced Liton and his family with open arms. It was a moment of pure joy and human connection, where boundaries of nationality, race, and background melted away in the warmth of this unexpected reunion.

Liton, hailing from Bangladesh but residing in Cape Town for the past 14 years, emerged as the unsung hero of this heartwarming tale.

In a time when so many are facing adversity, his simple act of returning a lost phone resonates deeply. It serves as a powerful reminder that even in the face of challenges and uncertainties, people still possess the innate goodness to do what is right.

In the end, this heartwarming story proves that, regardless of where we come from, our shared humanity transcends borders and backgrounds. It’s a tale of unity, compassion, and the enduring belief that, in the end, kindness prevails.
