A lost wallet containing R1,750 was returned to its owner by a determined and kind stranger, restoring faith in humanity.
Johannesburg, South Africa (10 June 2024) – Good deeds possess an incredible power to transform our perspectives, reminding us of the kindness and generosity that can be found even in the most unexpected places.
This is precisely what happened to Megan Forester, whose experience brings hope in a world where some would say that good news is hard to come by (and by some, we’re referring to South Africans who haven’t discovered Good Things Guy).
Megan’s ordeal began at Fourways Crossing, where she lost her wallet. As anyone would, she soon resigned herself to the tiresome process of cancelling her credit cards and applying for a new driver’s licence.
“I knew there was a nightmare ahead,” Megan shared.
South Africa’s high crime rate means that most people, upon losing their wallet, assume it is gone for good, never expecting to see it again. However, Megan’s story took a heartwarming turn. The morning after losing her wallet, Megan received a Facebook message from a young lady named Sonia Mbele. Initially, Megan was sceptical, suspecting it was a scam.
“Sorry for thinking such,” she admitted with an embarrassed emoji.
But Sonia’s message was anything but a scam. She had found Megan’s wallet and, determined to return it, had gone through great lengths to locate her. Sonia found some business cards in the wallet and called every person listed, asking if they knew Megan and how she could contact her.
Megan was taken aback by Sonia’s extraordinary effort to return her belongings. She recounted her experience on the “I Love Bryanston” Facebook group.
“She found my wallet and traced me on Facebook after she had found some business cards in my wallet and actually phoned every single person on the cards to enquire if they know me and how she could contact me.”
“I am amazed at the trouble this young lady went through to get my belongings back to me.”
When Megan finally met with Sonia, she was astonished to receive her wallet with everything intact, including the R1,750 cash.
“My faith in humanity has been restored!” Megan exclaimed.
Her story is a powerful reminder that good people do exist, and their actions can restore our faith in the world.
This heartwarming incident was shared with Good Things Guy, spreading a message of hope and positivity. In a place where crime often overshadows the good, stories like Megan’s shine brightly, showing that there is still plenty of goodness to be found.
