Lulu’s on her way to becoming the first Zulu woman to represent SA at the Para Surfing World Championship; it will also be her first-ever flight.

Durban, South Africa (29 September 2021) – ‘Made for More’ is a Non-Profit Company and a Public Benefit Organisation that aims to include, empower and equip people with disabilities through sport and mental health programmes.

The organisation promotes surfing for people with disabilities, and it is one of their most successful campaigns. So much so that several of their programme participants have been selected for the South African para surfing team.

The team will be travelling to Pismo Beach, California, USA, for the World Para Surfing Championships on the 7th-11th of December.

Alulutho Tshoba, affectionately known as ‘Miss Lulu’, is part of the team, a dream come true. Lulu was born with Spastic diplegia and lives in an informal settlement inland from Durban. Lulu is a 14-year-old young lady who is full of life and sass. The Made for More team say she lights up the Durban Beachfront with her infectious smile and loveable personality.

Lulu joined our Made For More Adaptive Surfing programme in 2018. Since then, she has grown in the sport and is now the first Zulu woman to ever represent South Africa in Para Surfing.

Lulu just needs a helping hand to get to California.

“She has the daunting task of raising R45 000 to cover all her expenses, which includes transport, accommodation, food and event costs. With no financial assistance, we want to help our Adaptive warrior woman take on her first flight ever to represent our country.”

A crowdfund has been launched to support all those going to the event in December. You can support them here or via direct deposit using the banking details below.
