14-year-old Lusanele got to spend his dream day learning about firefighting and meeting the fire heroes that fight back flames
East London, South Africa (26 March 2024) — Lusanele got to spend his dream day with the heroes at the Quigney Fire Station. He learned some key firefighting skills and opened his very own laptop. The 14-year-old is currently battling Ewing Sarcoma.
Dream Days are what the Reach for a Dream Foundation lives for. The organisation works to surprise sickly children and teens, often enduring terminal diseases and illnesses, with the day of their dreams. This helps each child, feel like a child again, even just for a day!
Reach For A Dream is a leading non-profit organisation that helps children who are fighting serious diseases by making their dreams – such as swimming with dolphins, meeting an idol or celebrity or getting a new doll house – come true. This not only gives these youngsters and their families an invaluable respite from daily stressors associated with ill health but stirs up much-needed courage and hope, helping these little ones believe that tomorrow is worth fighting for.
“Lusanele is a remarkable, soft-spoken 14-year-old, fighting Ewing Sarcoma. 💫 His dream of owning a laptop kept him going. 🌟
On his dream day, we ventured to the Quigney fire station, where Lusanele’s passion for firefighting came alive. 🚒 Immersed in education, this future firefighter donned gear, rode in a fire engine and learned emergency response skills.
His excitement radiated, and upon our return, the firefighters surprised him with his dream laptop! 💻 The joy on his face was priceless. To mark this special day, they gifted him a cap adorned with a firefighter badge, cementing an unforgettable connection with the firefighting community. 🧢🚨
Happy Dream Day, Lusanele!”
