Abbie, a worker from the Cat Village, built a ladder for Zoê, a blind cat who loves the top spot, and fans of the village are in awe of his love and kindness.
Johannesburg, South Africa (03 February 2022) – Irma Teller gives her heart, soul and time to caring for 1300 cats. She runs the Cat Villiage on the East Rand, which is a pro-life, non-profit cat rescue charity. The organisation has been running for 17 years and is the only one of its kind in South Africa.
Irma, a rescuer by heart, takes in cats and offers them long-term residence. She is surrounded by a group of volunteers who work to give the cats the best lives possible. The village is set in a beautiful garden giving the cats many natural spaces to relax and stretch out.
Irma and the volunteers ensure the cats have an enriching environment to live, stay healthy and be well-fed in. It is the job cat lovers dreams of.
Irma relies on donations and the support of volunteers to keep each kitty happy. She often shares photos of the residents in her care and how donations are used to support them.
Recently, Abbie, one of the Cat Village workers, noticed one of the kitties with special needs was struggling. Zoê is blind but loves sleeping on the top of the jungle gym where she is safely out the way. While she is able to get there and is very comfortable, she struggles to climb back down again.
Abbie noticed this and built her a ladder from scrap wood so she could easily get back down again. We were so touched seeing Zoê make her way down the ladder for the first time.
As she is blind, her routine is pretty set. Hopefully, the ladder will make her life more manageable from now on. Kudos to Abbie for making sure her life is as easy as possible.
