dolphins

Siyabonga Ndovela spent his Saturday helping return beached dolphins back into the ocean; the hero spent two hours trying his hardest to save the mammals.

Khwanyana Beach, Eastern Cape – Siyabonga Ndovela is the hero of this story. He spent hours trying to pull dolphins back into the ocean after finding them beached during his morning walk.

Siyabonga said he wasn’t sure why the dolphins had been beached but recalled the same happening in 2017 with a whale at the very same spot.

As he tried to pull the one dolphin off the sand back through the waves, he struggles to hold on and lost his grip many times. Even with the dolphin fighting him, he continued to drag it back to the ocean over two hours. Once he had got the dolphin into the sea, he held it close and swam along with it until the dolphin regained its strength.

“I’m so proud about these Dolphins they were washed out on the 30th of March 2019 in Khwanyana Beach close to the river. I saved them by taking them back in the Sea. They were already spent almost 2hour out from the water just small waves kept them survived then I swam with them to make sure that they catching energy to swim thanks God.”

Siyabonga doesn’t know what has become of the dolphins and hopes they survived after he returned them to the ocean.
