Matric Students

Villiersdorp Matric students took care for their own when one of their classmates collapsed, they picked her up and carried her all the way home to get rest.

Chantelle Venter posted a video on Facebook showing the amazing help she received from a group of young men when her sister collapsed at school. Her sister Veronica Venter is a matric student in Villiersdorp.

Veronica has a heart condition that affects her daily life, it causes her to collapse on a regular basis and her body goes rigid due to the lack of oxygen in her blood. Her condition is called Syncope meaning she faints due to a drop in blood pressure or heart condition. She needs to get a pacemaker, the family just cannot afford one so they are waiting.

After an episode occurred at school a group of her classmates helped her by carrying her from the school to her home across the road. The Venter’s live in a place behind the hostel so they are not too far from the school.

“They (the school) refused to open the gate, which is locked for the last two months.”

The gate leading from the school was locked and the school refused to unlock it so the young men walked the longer route to get Veronica to the safety of her home. They never gave up! They stopped a few times to catch their breath and then continued until they got her home.

Chantelle posted the video to thank the young men that helped and to share the story of their kindness. She captioned the video,

“Heroes of Villiersdorp!! Thanx Matric’17 for always being there for my sister… you guys are awesome!!!” – Chantelle Venter
