With winter fast approaching, Kindness Like Confetti in Linden is collecting “Meal in a Bag” ingredients and funds to help people in need.
Linden, South Africa (13 April 2023) – Kindness Like Confetti started collecting meal bags in 2020 as a way to fill the gap between food parcel handouts. The meal bag is made up of six simple non-perishable pantry ingredients that make up a meal when water is added.
These meal bags have the ability to create a wholesome meal for four people and at an affordable price for the donor. The non-perishable ingredients within the mix are filled with nutrients and each ingredient is inexpensive. Purchasing these in bulk allows a donor to make up many bags. One can make up the bags at home, donate the ingredients or donate monies which will be used to purchase the needed supplies.
‘Kindness like Confetti’ (KLC) is based in Linden Gauteng, and spreads kindness far and wide! KLC is a registered non-profit organisation with six main projects – collecting and distributing sanitary products, a feeding scheme, a knitting project called The Joseph Jersey Project, a dignity bag project to support victims of rape, trauma and abuse, Project Uplift, collecting new and gently used bras for women and an animal welfare support project. There are four additional KLC branches including Cape Town, Gqberha, Knysna and Pretoria.
The organisation is launching the campaign now, just in time to start providing warm meals to families and individuals in need.
“With the cooler weather upon us, please remember the people that would appreciate a hot meal. So many families and individuals rely on the soup kitchens to keep hunger at bay, however the soup often runs out long before everyone is served.
The Meal in a Bag can feed a family of 4, is nutritious, tasty and easy to prepare.
