Fortunate Zaca, a humble songstress from the small town of Mooi River in KwaZulu-Natal, has become a TikTok sensation, captivating millions with her powerful vocals. Her soulful renditions of classic songs by Alicia Keys, Adele, and Celine Dion have earned her a fanbase that is eager to see her realise her dreams!
Johannesburg, South Africa (28 January 2025) – In the small town of Mooi River in KwaZulu-Natal, several years ago a TikTok singing star was born. A humble songstress who possesses a melodic voice that has captivated millions of viewers as they scroll through the popular app, completely mesmerized by her talent.
Fortunate Zaca, known to her friends as MaPhili, can easily give Alicia Keys or Adele a run for their money as soon as she opens her mouth opens her mouth to sing a cover with her amazing voice.
Good Things Guys recently got in touch with the KZN-born singer, who shared a little about her lovely upbringing, love for singing and hopes to realise her singing dreams while inspiring others along the way.
Filled with joy of nostalgia in her voice, Fortunate reflects on her younger years when life was simple and brought up in a home filled with love.
“I have two brothers and a sister. I’m a baby of four siblings and we have a lot of cousins! I had a very happy childhood. Although we had little, we had a lot of love, and laughter and sang a lot. I grew up in a house with my mother and father.”
Now living in Johannesburg, the mother of two is solely focused on realising her singing dreams after being encouraged by her pastor, who was amazed by her talent and shared videos of her singing on his socials. The footage was an instant hit with South Africans, with one particular video of her singing Alicia Keys’ Fallin’ gaining over 7.4M views!

Give her a Celine Dion classic or a soulful Zahara tune and Fortunate will beautifully belt out her voice, doing these singing icons justice!
She has since created her own TikTok profile where she shares videos of herself singing, entertaining many online.
“I’ve always enjoyed singing. I sang in a lot of choirs in my community and at school growing up. When I was younger, I dreamt of being in the music industry but I never thought it would ever happen,” says Fortunate.
But the silent whispers of her heart have clearly been heard as she is currently working on recording and releasing her very first song at the end of this month.
“I would love to grow within the music industry and let the world know that anything is possible with God by your side. The way things have happened so quickly for me, I believe that it can only be through God.”
The future looks bright for Fortunate, and we’re so excited to see her shine bright and how her journey will unfold.
“I want be the change that I would love to see in my life. Hopefully, my journey will also give hope to people that anything is possible,” the excited singer shares.
