Microchip

A Johannesburg woman received a call from the SPCA to say that her dog had been found… one problem though, she believed her pup had died years ago!

Edenvale, South Africa – Several years ago, **Bronwyn’s house burned down. She was stuck without a safe place for her Labrador, Karma, so she rehomed her with a trusted friend.

Karma lived with Bronwyn’s friend for a few years until last year in October when the friend called to say that Karma had been diagnosed with cancer, and was put to sleep.

Bronwyn was heartbroken and mourned her beloved dog.

In August of this year, Bronwyn received a call from the Edenvale SPCA saying her dog had been found. She was shocked and couldn’t understand how Karma was alive and well. The SPCA shared the shocking story as well as the very happy ending on Facebook.

“Karma is a Labrador that was picked up by a kind gentleman on Centenary road by the dam in Modderfontein.

He brought her to us, we scanned and found a microchip.

Immediately contacted what we thought was mommy (Bronwyn). Mommy explained that her house burnt down 6 years ago and she rehomed Karma to someone she trusted and knew.

Mommy ALSO was shocked to get a call from us as she explained that this person whom she trusted called her last year October to tell her Karma had cancer and was put to sleep… little did she know!!! Karma was given away to someone else so that lady could get a new puppy.”

According to the SPCA, Karma’s adoptive mom just emailed them to say she couldn’t collect the dog and they should find a new home for her. The SPCA was disgusted. They called Bronwyn to explain what they had been told, and she quickly made a plan to get there to speak with them.

“Mommy came in to chat with us and explained her very sad story to us and said she wants to take Karma back home. Karma is 12 years old and we would have struggled to find her a new home. When mommy saw Karma she was so happy and sad at the time she just wanted her home.

A few days later, after the home was prepared and a meet and greet was done with the other dog on the property, Karma was finally home

We could not be more happier with this happily ever after.”

Bronwyn and Karma are now back together, and Bronwyn plans to make up for all their missed time together. The story may be tragic but does have a happy ending.
