Mighty Mack and her family are celebrating today; precisely two years ago, she was officially diagnosed with cancer, and today she is fighting strong!
Johannesburg, South Africa (10 May 2023) – It has officially been two years since Mighty Mack’s parents Megan and Bronson Friedman got the devastating news that Mackenzie was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML). For the last two years, little Miss Mack has been fighting cancer and she beat it! Today she is fighting strong and ready to take on the world!
Over the past two years, we have watched as Mackenzie and her family have faced highs and lows. She fought with every fibre of her being, even when she didn’t quite understand that she was meant to.
Mackenzie’s parents shared over the last two years, some of the deeply traumatic experiences Mack has had to face in the name of treatment. Being so young, she had no idea what the painful ports, needles and constant testing meant and they often all left in tears because she was so scared. Fighting cancer is no walk in the park and when it’s a child, it’s even worse! But they all got to where they are today because they never gave up and when Mack understands just how great her fight has been, we know Mom and Dad will be the first to get big thank-you hugs for helping her through all the hard stuff!
At Good Things Guy, we have always highlighted her wins and her best moments but were also mindful of the painful struggle this fight has been for the family.
Every time we see them celebrating a win, our hearts go out to them and to Mack. We are pretty sure all their supporters feel the same way. The family will continue to keep everyone updated on the progress of Mack’s fight, which you can always find here.
For now though, we celebrate Mack beating cancer within two years of her diagnosis!
“Today marks 2 years of Mackenzie fighting (and beating!) cancer!
2 years ago today we received the awful diagnosis of Leukemia AML not knowing if we would ever see the other side but today she is healthy and thriving!
She had her weekly doctor’s visit this morning and Dr Nadia is very impressed with her. She will go into theatre on Monday morning for her monthly biopsy which we are trusting will again be all clear
For those of you fighting this battle – it may seem never-ending but do not lose hope. Take some strength from this little champ who never ceases to amaze us”
