Mango Airlines, Kimberly-Clark and BidAir teamed up to help the residents of Missionvale in Port Elizabeth by making massive donations to their care centre!

Kimberly-Clark partnered with Mango Airlines and BidAir to provide the community with essential items such as Toilet paper and Huggies Nappies. These items were flown from Johannesburg to Port Elizabeth and delivered to the Missionvale Care Centre.

The Care Centre operates in the extremely poor informal settlement of Missionvale. The area has one of the highest unemployment rates in the region, leaving around 25,000 people to live in extreme poverty. The centre is a beacon of light in the community!

The scope of the services provided include a primary school, children support and development programmes, adult basic education and training, skills development, health unit to compliment municipal clinics, HIV/AIDS awareness, education and counselling, nutrition and wellness unit, a clothing warehouse and Christmas Cheer projects.

The primary school provided by the care centre is the only public school in the area. The school currently has over 231 students from Grade R to Grade 7 in the morning, and in the afternoon it opens its doors to adults for education and training programmes to upskill these community members.

The school also offers programmes for children with learning disabilities. It provides a morning snack and full lunch to each of the students.

Missionvale Care Centre provides more than one thousand people with something to eat every week. Anyone is welcome, however they need to bring an item that can be recycled. This ensures that they community members take ownership for their surroundings and help clean up the environment.

Over 720 families receive weekly food parcels from the centre. The donations received from Kimberly-Clark with the assistance of Mango and BidAir will make a massive difference in helping uplift the residents.

We live in a society that is dominated by all forms of negativity. It is however encouraging to know that there are people who choose to make a difference in the lives of those less privileged and bring a smile on their faces.
