Motorbiking community ‘Motorbike Women’ fuelled Matlosana Animal Shelter with support, recently. As the shelter faces closure, acts like this are headlights of hope for the team and dogs like Mr Nibbles, who desperately need help.
Stilfontein, South Africa (17 February 2025) — Like many animal-focused charities, the North-West based Matlosana Animal Shelter are no strangers to tough times. However, as of late January, the pro-life, non-profit announced that the toughest of these times had hit—they are facing closure.
“The animal shelter is in danger of closing down due to lack of support. We are struggling to keep our doors open and need help from the community and supporters,” the team shared with heavy hearts.
Heroes and helpers have since come forward to do what they can for Matlosana. Among them are ‘Motorbike Women’ who united to beam a little hope in the shelter’s direction.
A community of female motorheads, Motorbike Women, recently made a generous donation to Matlosana, setting the example for other communities with shared interests and big hearts to follow suit.
Though the animal shelter did not specify the amount, they expressed immense gratitude to the women who came together for their animals.
With mouths to feed and growing vet bills, the shelter expresses with great emphasis that support has never been more important than it is now.
Front of mind are efforts for Mr Nibbles, a dog whom the shelter team visit everyday at the vet to feed and check in on. Mr Nibbles was found in terrible condition; emaciated, weak and with maggots eating away at him. But, thanks to Matlosana, Nibbles now has a fighting chance—if his recovery can continue to be supported.
Those who wish to be the strength that keeps this shelter’s doors open or support Mr Nibbles’ healing can do so by making a donation to:
