A Mozambican man came to South Africa after being promised a job but on arrival, was mugged of all his belongings and left stranded.
Antonio Bente Mafulanhane was promised a job in South Africa so he travelled from Nyagoya in Maputo, Mozambique, to Johannesburg. Once he arrived, he was left waiting at the Park Station but nobody arrived to pick him up.
While he was waiting, he was mugged and the thieves made off with all his belongings, including all his important documents. He was at a loss and didn’t know what to do or where to go.
It was then he spotted two JMPD officers. He approached them and asked for help in getting back home.
The two JMPD officers were N Xaba-Mzolo and LC Mofokeng. The officers were concerned for the man. They conducted an investigation and once they were done they set off for the police station. Antonio gave an interview and an affidavit.
Once completed, officers Xaba-Mzolo and Mofokeng bought him a bus ticket home, food and new clothes.
The two officers were commended publicly by the City of Joburg’s MMC for Public Safety, Michael Sun.
“Salute to officer Xaba-Mzolo and officer Mofokeng. You have done us proud. I will be thanking them personally for their commendable deeds.”
They really have made South Africans proud and we are sure that Antonio appreciated their kindness in what must have been a scary time of his life. Good job officers!
